The taste of healthy beef

BionAgus is a symbol of quality and healthy beef, produced with the experience of seven generations of livestock farmers. We mainly specialize in breeding beef cattle, maintaining eco pastures and meadows and producing the highest class of premium meat.

BioAngus - pure meat from the farms of Yane Yanev

The history of BioAngus is a continuation of the ancestral livestock breeding practices of the Yanevi family, whose roots go back to 1833 in the foothills of the Pirin Mountains. Breeding animals in the Yanev family was not just a craft, but a way of life, livelihood and responsibility, passed down from father to son for two centuries.

Yane Yanev and the beginning of BioAngus

Yane Yanev, as the inheritor of this rich experience from an early age, accumulated knowledge in raising animals and with his passion for them became a new engine for the development of the family tradition. Combining experience and wisdom inherited from his ancestors with modern knowledge and a great love for animals, he started BioAngus - a symbol of healthy beef production.

What is the experience in the farms of Yane Yanev for breeding and raising cattle

Yane Yanev's heritage farms are located in the southwestern part of the Pirin Mountains, and his partner farms are located in Western Stara Planina near the Belogradchik rocks.

The farms of the Yanevi family in the Pirin Mountains have been around for nearly two hundred years.

They are mixed farms - they breed cattle from the indigenous breed of Bulgarian gray cattle (BSG), horses, sheep, pigs and chickens.

The technology is year-round grazing cattle with winter feeding.

The farm is located at an altitude of over 900 m above sea level, and in this part of Pirin there are more than 150 types of wild herbs that help the natural internal deworming of animals.

Our mission is healthy beef for connoisseurs.

Why did we create Bio Angus?

Our beef is produced from cattle under selective control of the Aberdeen Angus breed (Black Angus and Red Angus). The mother cows give birth to the calves in the natural environment of the pastures, approved according to the Eco-PZP measure. There the calves suckle and graze at will without stress, without medication and hormones. The food sources are grasses, wild herbs and shrubs in a region with great biodiversity in North-West Bulgaria. In this way, the natural resources of these wild territories from the foot of Mount Vedernik to Borov Kamak, the clean water of Stakevska Reka and Gornolomska Reka ensure that the Angus beef that our customers receive is the most proven organic product possible. It has an excellent texture, unique fragility and unique taste. Our animals are transported directly from the farms to the Montcom slaughterhouse under strict humane treatment requirements. Bio Angus meat is from young animals aged between 12 and 21 months, with a high degree of marbling with sparkling white useful cholesterol tallow, dense structure, pink-red color. This is due to the correct breeding technology, especially in the last phase of fattening with quality grain fodder, but without antibiotics, without hormonal preparations, without genetically modified fodder and carcass meal. Our production is pure chilled meat without chemical enhancers, obtained from healthy animals. Premium beef from Bio Angus is of high quality, satisfying even the most demanding customers.

Therefore, today Bio Angus represents a synthesis between the traditions of the past and the modern knowledge of the present. Every product that leaves the farm carries with it a piece of the history and heritage of the Janevi family.

The Janevi cattle breed behind Bioangus

Learn about the Yanevi roots on which Bioangus is built

Andon Yanev (1835)

He was born in Seres, today's Greece, but settled and founded the Yanevi family in the villages of Bogoroditsa and Drenovo, Petrichko. Together with his son, son Zlatan, they built the first homestead in the village of Malki Tsalim.

Zlatan Yanev (1859)

First-born son of Andon Yanev, who developed the farm in Malki Tsalim, with sheep, goats and cattle, and turned it into one of the best farms in Pirin Macedonia.

Yane Yanev (1881)

The first-born son of Zlatan Yanev, he is the father of a son and two daughters. His son Dimitar Yanev was seriously injured during the Devetoyun Coup in 1923 and recently died, and the family was continued through his daughter Maria...

...who married Georgi Nikov (representative of the other wealthiest family in the village), and he adopted the Yanevi surname in order to preserve the tradition and preserve the farm. Yane Yanev, in addition to the loss of her son, also experienced the arson of the inn, which was burned to the ground. But he has an indomitable spirit, because despite everything, he finds the strength to quickly build a new home and devote himself to the flocks again. It is a major contributor to the live animal trade for Germany.

Georgi Yanev

He accepted the Yanevi family as a son-in-law in the family and continued the development of cattle breeding with cattle, sheep and goats. It develops new lands and meadows in the foothills of the Pirin mountain and thus expands the production of fodder for feeding the animals. He has major credit for building the family mill and for training ox and horse teams as well as farm labor.
Yane Yanev II
5th generation breeder

Yane Yanev II

A long-time mayor, a public figure, an energetic and proud businessman, he, together with his father Georgi Yanev, opposed for years the entry into the TKZS. Only in March 1959, through forcible collectivization, the buildings, inventory and animals of the farm were seized by the communist authorities, and Yane Yanev was forced to leave the village. After the changes, he returned to the village again, was elected mayor, but mainly engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry until the end of his life. During his lifetime, he passed the entire farm into the hands of his first-born grandson, Yane Yanev.
